Privacy policy

1. About this policy
SpendSense is a personal budgeting app provided by Syed Interactive LLC. This policy explains how the app handles your information. You can use SpendSense without creating an account or signing in. The app does not connect to your bank.
2. Information you keep in the app
SpendSense stores the information you enter locally on your device so it can display your budget, reports, and preferences. This includes:
- Transactions, amounts, dates, notes, categories, and account labels
- Savings goals and progress
- Currency, appearance, and reminder preferences
- Your optional profile name and photo
- Photos you choose to attach to transactions
SpendSense does not automatically upload these financial records, profile details, or photos to Syed Interactive LLC or Firebase. Photo access is optional and is used to select a profile photo or transaction attachment.
3. Optional notifications
If you allow notifications, SpendSense uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and the device notification service to deliver app messages. Firebase processes an app installation identifier and messaging tokens to address messages to your installation. It may also process technical service information, such as IP address, device and operating system details, app version, and operational diagnostics, to provide and maintain its services. Firebase also processes SDK user-agent information for service analytics.
We do not associate these identifiers with your local financial records or profile. You can control notification delivery in your device settings and scheduled reminders in SpendSense. Turning off notifications does not itself erase information already held by the notification providers.
Google's processing and retention practices are described in the Firebase privacy documentation. Its services may process information in countries outside your country of residence.
4. Storage and security
The app uses secure storage for financial records and profile settings. On iOS, these records are stored using Keychain. Selected photos are stored or referenced as local image files and are not protected by a separate layer of app encryption. Your device security and backup settings also affect how local information is protected and retained.
Backups created through SpendSense are encrypted using the passphrase you choose. Keep that passphrase private and store backup files securely. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
5. Exports, sharing, and support
You can create an encrypted backup and choose where to save or share it using your device's sharing controls. Files you send to another app, person, or storage provider are then subject to that recipient's privacy and security practices. Device backups may also retain app information according to your device settings.
If you contact support, we receive the contact details, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request. Please avoid sending financial records or sensitive images unless they are needed to explain the issue.
We do not sell your personal information. SpendSense does not display advertising or use your information for tracking across other companies' apps or websites. Google Analytics collection is disabled in the app; this does not disable all technical information processed by Firebase's notification services.
6. Retention and your choices
Your local records remain available until you change or delete them in the app. You can edit or delete transactions and goals, manage account labels and categories, change your profile, and remove a photo from the profile or a transaction. SpendSense has no online user account to delete.
Removing a record or photo from the app does not erase previously exported backups, shared copies, or the original image in your photo library. Local image files and secure-storage values can also outlast the visible entry or app installation. Do not rely on uninstalling the app to erase every copy of your information.
Manage exported files and device backups separately. Notification service data is retained under the provider's policies. Contact us for privacy questions or help with a request to access, correct, or delete information we hold. The rights available to you depend on applicable law.
7. Children's privacy
SpendSense is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.
8. Policy updates
We may update this policy when the app or our practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. We will provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
